Respectful Camping

Please take a moment to review the policies – they are in place to assure the safety and comfort of everyone.

Rules & Policies

Please read carefully. If you have any questions, we will be happy to discuss them with you. All guests/visitors assume all risks and danger incidental to the activity of camping in a rustic outdoor environment including specifically (but not limited to): the danger of being injured or killed by insects or other animals, of being injured while participating in recreational activities, such as swimming or outdoor sports at the campground and/or being injured as a result of inclement weather conditions, and agrees that the campground and its owners, agents and employees are not liable for injuries or property damage resulting from such risks and dangers.

Adherence to the rules is your responsibility, and misuse of the campground or disobeying the rules may result in expulsion from the campground with no refunds.

ARRIVING AND DEPARTING:

  • Check In for all sites is 1:00 PM and Check Out is 11:00 AM

  • Early arrivals and late departures: Please check with the office for site availability and fees.

  • If you think you will arrive after we are closed for the evening, please call us during office hours to make arrangements. We have a security gate and you will not be able to access the campground to get to your site.

  • Holiday hours do differ; please call to check office closing hours.

PAYMENTS: 

  • Reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking.

  • Reservations are for 2 adults, 2 pets and unmarried children under the age of 18. See rates page for additional fees.

QUIET HOURS:

 

  • Quiet Hours are 11:00 pm to 8:00 am

  • All youth under the age of 21 must be back at their sites by 10:30 PM unless accompanied by an adult. Please have consideration for your camping neighbors.


VISTORS:

  • Visitors must --by CT law-- register with the campground office upon entering the campground property and a per-visitor fee will be charged for anyone 18 years of age and older.

  • All visitors must present government issued ID at the office

  • No visitors' pet(s) allowed.

  • All visitors must park in the parking lot at the office.

  • Day visitors must depart the grounds no later than 10:00 pm.

  • Overnight visitors are welcome until 11:00 am the following morning.  If you would like to stay longer, please re-register with the campground office.

BATHROOMS: 

 

  • Please be respectful of other campers and the property when using the bath houses. No dish washing may be done in sinks. Clean up after yourself and report any shortage of materials or issues you might observe to staff.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES: 

  • The laundry room is open 24/7 and located near the bathrooms. The machines are coin operated, and you can obtain change at the store. Do not leave clothing in machines for extended periods of time when they are not running. Chamberlain Lake Campground is not responsible for any damage or theft of property that is left unattended.


VEHICLES/ BICYCLES:

  • All vehicles must have a pass hanging from mirror while on grounds.

  • Only two vehicles is permitted on your site at a time (besides your camping unit) with the exception being brief loading and unloading.

  • Additional vehicles park in the parking lot next to the campground Office.

  • Speed limit is 5 mph and strictly enforced. Lots of children at play. Their safety is our biggest concern.

  • Golf Carts are prohibited in Campground premises. 

  • Electric Vehicle car charging in the Campground is strictly prohibited.

  • Helmets are required for Bicycle riders that are 16 years and younger according to CT State Law. Bikes must be returned to site and may not be ridden after dusk. Respect pedestrians and bike at your own risk.


FIREWOOD:

  • Per CT Guidelines, no outside wood of any kind is permitted. We will confiscate it.  We need your help to slow down the spread of invasive insect species such as the Asian Longhorn and Emerald Ash Borer Beetle. 

  • We do sell bundled wood at a discount at the store and have cord wood available for those staying for a longer duration.

  • Campfires can never be left unattended. All campfires must be extinguished at midnight. Only firewood is to be burned in pits and fires must be maintained at a reasonable height.

 

VANDALISIM: 

  • Please be respectful of The Chamberlain Lake Campground property. Acts of vandalism of any kind will not be tolerated and could result in expulsion from the campground.

TRASH:

 

  • Please use dumpsters located throughout the campground. Do not leave trash out overnight.

SITE MAXIMUM: 

  • There is a maximum limit of 4 adults and their unmarried children allowed on each site. 

  • There is a maximum limit of one tent per site.

POLITICAL SIGNAGE: 

  • Chamberlain Lake Campground does not permit any political signage of any designation. This includes flags, yard signs, and banners. Visitors will be asked to take said signage down if seen posted within campground.


ADAPTERS AND EXTENSION CORDS:

  • Please be aware that some of our sites are oversized and the utility hookups may be further away than 25 feet from your unit. An appropriate extension cord may be needed.

  • Your site may be equipped with either 50 or 30 amp power, so it is recommended you bring the appropriate adapter for your unit.

  • Subject to availability, adapters and extension cords may purchased in the recreation hall store.


PETS:

  • There is a limit of 2 pets per site. Pets are not permitted inside buildings, the playground and the lake area.

  • Visitor's pets are prohibited

  • Owners must be able to provide proof of vaccine shot records upon request.

  • All pets must be leashed or on a lead, max of 6 feet long at all times. When tied to your camper, dogs must be secured by a strong leash that does not extend off the site in any directions, not tied to a tree.

  • Pets must be under adult supervision at all times, never roaming or loose, and quiet.

  • Clean up after your pet and dispose of waste properly.

  • For your comfort and safety the above conditions are strictly enforced. We reserve the right to ask you to remove your pet from the park.

  • Owners must fill out a pet waiver upon booking.

 

LAKE POLICY:

  • NO LIFE GUARD ON DUTY. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult while at the Lake area, fishing on a boat or swimming.

  • Your participation in any water activity is done at your own risk. Rescue equipment is at the beach side. If you notice any problem with the water quality or absence of water rescue equipment, please notify us at once. NEVER SWIM ALONE.

  • A minimum of 1 adult, 18 years or older, must be present whenever the lake is in use. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR ADEQUATE SUPERVISION.

  • A parent or guardian must accompany children under 14 years of age.

  • Children must wear a lifejacket while on a boat, canoe, kayak etc.

  • Swimming hours are 9am to dusk, no swimming is permitted after hours.

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages and swim or participate in water sports.

  • Guests must swim in designated areas only.

  • Diving or jumping into the water is strictly prohibited.

  • Your canoe or row boat (with electric motor ONLY!) is welcome.

  • We also rent fishing poles, boats and canoes. Check with the Campground Office.

  • No fishing license is required.

  • All largemouth bass are catch and release. Earthworms only, any other live bait is prohibited.

  • Bikes are not permitted in the beach area.

OTHER POLICIES:

  • Chamberlain Lake Campground allows the consumption of alcohol in non-glass containers only, and never in any buildings, roads, beach area of the park. Driving a motorized vehicle, including cars, trucks and golf carts, while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substances is not allowed at any time within the Chamberlain Lake Campground property.

  • Clotheslines, ropes etc. are not to be tied or nailed to any trees or utility posts.

  • Picnic tables or benches should remain at the designated site.

  • Smoking is prohibited in all campground buildings.

  • We operate on a well water system. Water consumption will be monitored and regulated. Vehicle or Camper washing is strictly prohibited and will be grounds for immediate eviction from the campground.

  • Cutting trees or branches in the campground is prohibited.

  • Fireworks (including sparklers), guns (including pellet guns, airsoft guns), and drugs  are strictly prohibited.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • There are no refunds or credits for early departures, late arrivals or no shows.

  • Camping is an outdoor experience; therefore, we do not give refunds or credits for weather or natural conditions.

  • Cancellations 0-9 days before reservation will not be refunded.

  • Cancellations 9-29 days before reservation will receive a 50% refund.

  • Cancellations 30 days or more before reservation will receive a full refund less a $25 cancellation fee and applicable service fee.

We reserve the right to assign campsites and do not guarantee a specific site number. Rates are subject to change without notice. Management assumes no responsibility for loss or damage by fire, theft, accident, wind, water or the negligence by you or others, etc. and reserves the right to change rules and regulations. We reserve the right to evict without prior notice, anyone who, in our judgement, creates a disturbance or nuisance or deliberately breaks any of the rules & policies. No repayment of such fees will be made in the event of such eviction.

In conjunction with your use of The Chamberlain Lake Campground facility, the undersigned acknowledges that this is an open, outdoor park that provides staffing for administrative and guest services based on occupancy. Chamberlain Lake Campground does not provide emergency service personnel. In the event of an emergency, you must call 911 and report your call. Also call the office when open or the after-hours emergency phone listed on the front door of the office.
